The testimonies from Shereener’s nominators were exemplary and gave an unequivocal picture of the immense pro bono work Shereener commits to and the impact it this continues to have on clients and colleagues alike.
Shereener was presented with the Award by the Attorney General, Dominic Grieve at the Bar Conference on Saturday 5th November.
Lord Goldsmith, who led the judging panel, said:
“This year's winner exemplifies my belief that pro bono is part of being a barrister. Despite existing personal commitments and the challenge of moving to a completely new practice area at the Bar, Shereener Browne has worked tirelessly on pro bono cases with little fanfare. Testimonials emphasise Shereener's willingness to go far beyond her original instructions in order to achieve the right outcome for her clients and this dedication has not gone unnoticed by colleagues and contemporaries. Shereener's ongoing commitment to pro bono work undoubtedly influences those around her to take on their own pro bono work.”

There were also specials mentions for the striving work of Geraldine Clark from Serle Court and William East from 5 Stone Buildings.
“It was extremely difficult to select one winner this year and special mention must be made of two other nominees, Geraldine Clark and William East. Both have repeatedly gone beyond the call of duty to assist pro bono clients and their work shows true dedication to the pro bono ethos.”
