Here are some tips to think about when fundraising
The best way to get people interested is by explaining:
1) What you are doing
2) What the Bar Pro Bono Unit does
3) Why you are fundraising for us
You could do this by:
Creating posters publicising your involvement in the Law School Challenge and telling everyone about the fundraising activities you're carrying out.
Asking your law school or society that you are involved in to send out an email to all staff and students publicising your events/stalls/efforts.
Contacting your local newspaper or radio station, explaining what you are doing and asking them to promote your events.
Using sites such as Facebook and Twitter to create pages and groups that you can invite people to join. You can then add photos, videos and pod casts to the groups to keep everyone updated on your activities.
Ideas for fundraising activities
- Organise a talent show or music show and charge for entry
- Get active and take part in a sponsored bike ride/swimathon/walkathon/race
- If sport's not your thing, organise a "how many can I eat in a minute" event
- Give up something you really like and get sponsored for it
- Get your friends and family to pay you to be silent for the day!
- Organise a car wash
- Get baking and set up a stall to sell your cakes or organise a coffee morning
- Set up a raffle or tombola and get people to donate prizes for it. You could even contact local businesses in your area and ask them to donate prizes.
