LWCS23 1096Over 500 people joined us yesterday evening at our sixth annual Christmas Carol Concert held with LawWorks, ‘Carols for Pro Bono’.

The event was a fantastic success with tickets selling out before the day, raising over £22,000 in total. This money will be split equally between the two pro bono charities, enabling us to continue supporting people who are navigating the complex legal system alone.

It was a moving evening filled with traditional Christmas carols and spectacular musical performances by renowned chamber choir Collegium Musicum, and outstanding solo cellist Waynne Kwon. There were also speeches from Sharif A. Shivji KC, our Chair of Trustees, and Alasdair Douglas, Chair of Trustees at LawWorks.

We had an excellent line-up of celebrity guests performing readings with a comedic twist from actors Stephen Mangan and Alex Macqueen. This year we were also delighted to be joined by the first woman to serve as the head of the judiciary of England and Wales, Lady Carr.

It was a magical evening to kick off the Christmas season and celebrate the power of pro bono work together.

The Chair of Trustees at Advocate, Sharif A. Shivji KC, opened the event saying:

"I’m delighted that Advocate and LawWorks are celebrating pro bono and our successful collaboration in 2023 through our annual carol service. This is a chance to give thanks to all those who have supported us in our important work and to look forward to the challenges that the year ahead will present."
