Swan Advocacy Network

About

Swan provides independent advocacy to adults living in Wiltshire who, because of illness, disability or age may feel unable to speak up and speak out about their lifestyle choices or issues that are affecting their life.  Often these people need an independent advocate to help them through the maze of bureaucracy that is hard to understand and which is impacting on them to their detriment.  Swan will support a client to understand the choices they have and stand beside them as they make their choice and speak up about what they feel is right for them.

You can download the Swan leaflet and recent newsletter for further information.

Type of Volunteer Role

Trustee/Board Member.

What skills are they looking for?

Particular skills gaps at the moment are HR, legal and marketing/PR/Fundraising.  A general interest in the rights and choices of vulnerable people living in the community, and some knowledge/interest or understanding of health and social care issues would be beneficial but not essential.

How often are meetings held?
Monthly.

When and where are the meetings?
Meetings are usually held between 5-7pm on the third Wednesday of each month, but can be changed. Meetings take place in Salisbury.
