The Bar Pro Bono Unit is a charity which helps to find pro bono (free) legal assistance from volunteer barristers.

We will not accept new applications from 7th February as we implement a new way of working. Our service will reopen on 1st March 2018.

It may take up to 4 weeks for us to process applications throughout March so if you have a deadline earlier than 1 April 2018 please look for help from one of the following places:

• If you are going to court without a lawyer and would like to be accompanied by a volunteer, please contact our friends at the Personal Support Unit.

• If you need advice please use the LawWorks or Citizens Advice networks.

• If you need help preparing a case please use the online guides on AdviceNow.

• If you have any funds please contact a barrister directly through the Direct Access Portal
