"Without the kindness and time dedicated by volunteer barristers and the Bar Pro Bono Unit, people like me would never get the chance for fairness or justice"

The Bar Pro Bono Unit is an independent charity which relies on donations to meet all its running costs. We are very grateful to all those sets of Chambers, organisations and individuals who already help us.

Regular Donations

Regular donations such as standing orders are particularly appreciated, as they allow us to plan properly for the future. When a Gift Aid declaration is completed, at no additional cost to yourself, we can receive an extra 25p for every pound that you give e.g. a donation of £100 is worth £125. To request a standing order form please contact Bea Crayford on communications@barprobono.org.uk.

Pro Bono Patrons

The Pro Bono Patrons scheme is designed to give organisations who underpin the core work of the Bar Pro Bono Unit a way to share that commitment externally and publicly with clients and staff.

Without such core regular funding, it would be impossible for the Bar Pro Bono Unit to carry out its function of structuring the pro bono work of the Bar, by enabling barristers to give their time to help those who need it, in all tribunals and courts and in all areas of law across England and Wales.

Pro Bono Patron organisations support the Unit at three levels:

  • Gold Circle £8,000
  • Silver Circle £3,500
  • Bronze Circle £1,000

As a Pro Bono Patron, organisations can include the logo on their website and their publicity materials and will be recognised prominently on the new Unit website. If you are interested in joining the Gold, Silver or Bronze Circle of Pro Bono Patrons, please contact Mary Dobson on mdobson@barprobono.org.uk.
